Growing up on an acreage with clear dark skies sparked Zach's love and wonder for the stars. Zach has guided Nebraskans of all ages on constellation tours, special anniversary events (Hubble, Apollo 11), and more. There is nothing as rewarding as giving others a new perspective on our place in space, including how we continue to explore it. Whether in-person or virtual, Zach is available for several different kinds of presentations to suit yours and your group's needs!
Sunday with a Scientist: Astronomy Day
This is a yearly event held to highlight the importance of space exploration and how it advances civilization. Included are various facets of astronomy including aerospace, rocketry, nanoscience, backyard astronomy/stargazing, and more. Using the planetarium, we naturally explore the current evening sky and always emphasize the necessity of clear, dark skies for the best observing situations.
Investigate Saturday: Astronomy & Space Science
A yearly event, similar to Sunday with a Scientist, with a younger audience in mind. Many of the same topics are covered, but presented in a different way to be more accessible for visitors.
Summer Late Night Party
We team up with the community astronomy club & observatory to show visitors the actual night sky. We typically begin in the planetarium for a controlled environment and then apply what we saw indoors to what's in the current sky. This allows us to explain how telescopes & optics work.
