Prospery Simpemba is a seasoned advocate of astronomy development and use of astronomy for development. He is based at the Copperbelt University where he lectures physics and coordinates the Southern African Regional Office of Astronomy for Development (SAROAD). His interest in astronomy dates back to his university days in the late nineties when he started coordinating Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) activities in Zambia, later becoming the National Point of Contact for the International year of Astronomy 2019.
